Mrs. Thelma Martha Lewis Tucker, 89 of State Road, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Tucker was born June 3, 1921 in Wilkes County to Houston and Maudie Layell Lewis. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Tucker; a son Gary Tucker; a sister Edna Williamson; and two brothers, Epsie Lewis and Delmar Lewis. She is survived by a son, Larry Tucker & wife Bonnie of State Road; two sisters, Juanita Thompson of Winston Salem and Odene Pinnix & husband Richard of Greensboro; a grandson Larry Tucker, Jr. & wife Julie of Climax; three great grandchildren, Matthew Tucker & wife Amanda of Ashboro, Rebecca Tucker of Kannapolis, and Joshua Tucker of Boonville; mother of the great grandchildren, Virginia Flagg; step great grandchild Matthew May of Ramseur; great great grandchild Dillon May of Ramseur; two nieces, four nephews, and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Kenny Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 109 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, State Road, NC 28676.
